The Jack Bloor Trustees are pleased to announce its support for young rock climbers.
Jack was a keen rock climber and established many new routes around Leeds and the Lake District. Purpose built climbing walls only started to appear in the mid 1960's and the Leeds University Climbing Wall was the first. The wall helped the University's climbing club dominate the local climbing scene in the 1970s, opening up many new routes on Yorkshire's famous gritstone and limestone crags. Jack was a lecturer at the neighbouring Polytechnic and spent many hours training there!
The JB Trustees are currently making links with the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) GB Climbing Team and The Foundry Academy (Sheffield).
Congratulations to our first rock climbing awards; Alex Hall (Sheffield Academy) and Luke Tilley (GB Junior Team)
Congratulations to Luke who was 5th in Edinburgh and 3rd in Moscow at the European Youth Cups!
