All profits from the Jack Bloor Races go to the Jack Bloor Memorial Fund, which awards grants to those who want to improve their physical and/or technical skills in any recognised outdoor sport. More info here

A big thank you to all the helpers, runners and sponsors who braved the midges (and sunshine) to come to the 32nd Jack Bloor Races. Thanks to the sunshine we had a big turnout for the senior race and slightly down on the junior numbers. However we still raised lots of money for the Jack Bloor Fund from the races and cake stall which awards grants to young Yorkshire people who want to improve their skills in any recognised sport. See the latest Fellrunner magazine which published an article about the fund. Donations always welcome for the fund.
Congratulations to Jack Wood (Ilkley Harriers) who has equalled Greg Hull’s hat-trick by winning three times in a row and Lucy Haines (Ilkley Harriers) who won the overall women’s race and the U23 trophy for the first time.
We caught up with Jack after the race:
The Jack Bloor race route remains one of my favourites, and I enjoyed running on the paths and trods that lead towards the summit with new Ilkley resident Rob Little (Dark Peak FR). I strided out across the wet marsh gaining a few seconds gap, and was encouraged to see my Dad and Tilly the dog near the ruin. When I got to the top of the steps I knew no-one would catch me and I had a smile on my face as I concentrated on getting down without a fall. I was so pleased to match Greg's feat of a hat-trick of wins (though still 4 off his overall tally!) whose great record on an ever quickening course still stands. Thanks to Rob K, Hilary and all helpers for another great evening.
